Martedì 5 marzo 2013 arriva a Trieste una vera e propria leggenda del rock: sul palco del Teatro Miela Ian Hunter.
L’ex leader dei Mott the Hoople, torna in tour dopo aver pubblicato il nuovo album “When I’m President”, distribuito in Italia da Family Affair. L’album è inciso con The Rant Band, lo stesso gruppo che accompagnò il frontman inglese nella sua prima e unica data italiana della storia, quando salì sul palco dell’Alcatraz di Milano il 5 Maggio del 2010.
Ian Hunter, dopo aver abbandonato la glam band per antonomasia nel 1974, non ha mai smesso di pubblicare album e tantomeno di andare in tour, continuando la tradizone che voleva i Mott the Hoople come miglior live band degli anni ’70. Non lo diciamo noi, ma lo affermano i diretti concorrenti dell’epoca: i Led Zeppelin, i Free e David Bowie, che scrisse per loro la memorabile “All the young Dudes” che li portò al successo nel 1972. I Mott the Hoople sono stati inoltre la prima band a suonare in un teatro di Broadway e vantano il record di essere gli unici artisti ad aver avuto i Queen come special guest in un loro tour. Proprio Ian Hunter ha sempre scongiurato qualsiasi reunion (eccezion fatta per una serie di 5 concerti nel 2009), proseguendo a testa alta una carriera solista ricca di successi come lo scorso album “Man Overboard”, uscito nel Giugno 2009. Il primo album a nome Ian Hunter risale al 1975, al quale sono seguiti ben altri diciannove lavori tra studio e live. “When I’m President” è fresco di stampa.
Insieme a lui troveremo sul palco The Rant Band nella versione trio con Andy Yorke alla chitarra (John Mellencamp) e Dave Roe al basso (Johnny Cash).

Former Mott the Hoople leader is back on tour, after
releasing his new “When I’m President” cd, distributed in
Italy by Family Affair: cd was recorded with The Rant Band,
the same band who played with the English frontman in
his only Italian gig at Milan Alcatraz back on May 5th, 2010.
Trieste concert is promoted by Trieste Is Rock.
After abandoning the preeminent glam band in 1974, he
never stopped publishing cd or touring and continued
in a tradition which considers Mott the Hoople the best
live band of the ’70s.
Their rivals back this opinion: among them Led Zeppelin,
Free and David Bowie, who wrote the unforgettable
All the young Dudes”, their major hit in 1972.
Mott the Hoople were the first band to play Broadway and
can claim they were the only artists who had Queen
as special guests on their tour.
Ian Hunter carefully avoided any reunion (the only exception
being 5 concerts in 2009): hats off to a solo career rich
in success, such as his June 2009 “Man Overboard” cd.
His first solo album dates back to 1975; after that he
released no less than 19 studio or live works:
“When I’m President” has just been published.
The trio version of The Rant Band will play with him live on
stage, featuring Andy York on guitar (John Mellencamp) and Dave Roe on bass (Johnny Cash).

Marca meseca 2013 bo prišla v Trst prava legenda rocka; na odru gledališča Miela bo nastopil Ian Hunter. Bivši vodja skupine Mott the Hoople se vrača v tour po izdaji novega albuma “When I’m President”, ki ga v Italiji podpira agencija Family Affair. K izvedbi albuma je pripomogla skupina The Rant Band, ki je spremljala angleškega frontmana med prvim in edinim datumom v Italiji, ko se je predstavil na odru Alcatraza v Milanu dne 5 maja 2010. Za nastop v Trstu je pripomoglo združenje Trieste is Rock.
Ian Hunter, potem ko je zapustil glam skupino leta 1997, ni nehal proizvajati albume in niti imeti koncerte po svetu; nadaljeval je s tradicijo, ki je smatrala Mott the Hoople kot za najboljšo skupino v živo. To ne provimo samo mi, ampak to poterjujejo drugi glasbeniki tistega odbdobja: Led Zeppelin, Fire in David Bowie, ki je napisal za skupino nepozabni hit”All the young Dudes”, ki jih je pridevel do velikega uspeha leta 1972.
Mott the Hoople je bila prva skupina, ki je zaigrala v gledailišču v Broadwayu in drži record, da so edini glasbeni umetniki, ki so imeli band Queen kot special guest, to je posebnega gosta, med enim od njihovih tour.
Prav Ian Hunter je bil vedno proti katerokoli ponovni združitvi skupine (izključno samo za serijo 5 koncertov leta 2009); sam je nadaljeval z dvignjeno glavo individuano glasbeno pot, ki je bila bogata uspehov kot potrtuje prejšnji album “Man Overboard”, ki je izšel junija 2009.
Prva zbirka hitov, ki nosi njegovo ime, je izšla leta 1975. Sledilo je kar 19 del v študiju ali v živo; ”When I’m President” je ravno komaj izšla.
